L-Theanine promotes relaxation without the drowsiness or negative side effects associated with other calming agents. L-Theanine also supports healthy cardiovascular function through this relaxing effect as well as its antioxidant properties.

L-theanine supplementation has also been shown to increase brain α-waves which are associated with reduced stress and anxiety. Increased α-waves are also associated with selective attention mechanisms and mental alertness. These altered wave functions are evidence that theanine has ‘relaxing and attention promoting’ properties. There’s also literature that reports increased theta wave function which is associated with learning and memory.
